Learn how to prevent falls by 80% with the VirtuSense Product Ecosystem

Larksfield Place was able to reduce falls with injury by 80% in its short-term rehab unit in the first six months of implementation with VSTAlert monitoring on only 8 out of 38 beds.

Larksfield Place Retirement Communities, a Life Plan community in Wichita, Kansas, implemented VirtuSense Technologies' AI solutions to improve fall prevention. By using a combined program of both VSTBalance and VSTAlert to improve their care, Larksfield achieved remarkable outcomes for their residents.

  • VSTBalance is an AI-based fall-risk assessment tool toidentify balance, gait, and function deficits, aiding in creating effective care plans.
  • VSTAlert is an in-room monitoring system used to prevent falls. It detects a resident’s intent to exit their bed or chair, and notifies staff 30-65 seconds prior to movement, thereby preventing falls.

By conducting long-term fall risk assessments with VSTBalance to their more mobile residents, Larksfield Place was able to offer physical therapy and strengthening exercises for their residents long before a potential fall was apparent. For residents who were at more immediate risk in their rehabilitation unit, VSTAlert monitored only those at the highest risk for a fall, allowing staff to have 24/7 awareness of those residents' needs. This monitoring allowed for remarkable reductions in falls and falls with injury across the entirely of Larksfield Place.

After using VirtuSense solutions, Larksfield Place saw 80% reduction in falls with injury in the short-term rehab unit within six months. AI tools provided improved staff efficiency and patient outcomes, with reduced fall-related injuries and better health management for residents.
